It reads like a thriller. It isn’t one. It’s quieter and stranger, more interested in what Natalie has actually been building and whether any of it was ever real.

Natalie is kind of awful. Vain, calculating, and at least 60% fiction in everything she puts online. I did not like her. I could not stop reading about her. That tension is the whole book.

The ending shouldn’t work. I spent the entire book wondering: was she time traveling, was it Don’t Worry Darling, is she in purgatory? It wraps up in a way that is unexpected and genuinely shocking. I finished the last page and sat with it for a minute. That was over a week ago and I’m still thinking about it.

Get this book and read it on April 7th. You will not regret it. My favorite of the year so far.
