I read a lot of books.

I read more than 100 books a year, from literary fiction and thrillers to romance, fantasy, sci-fi, and nonfiction.

I read the book before the adaptation, wander into independent bookstores on vacation, and keep far too many books on my Kindle “just in case.”

Here you’ll find honest reviews, curated reading lists, and thoughtful conversations about books and the reading life. My goal is simple: help you find your next favorite book.

What I love in books

Give me engaging characters, even if they’re terrible people, plots that actually go somewhere, and sharp dialogue.

I love romances with satisfying happily-ever-afters, space operas with big casts and political intrigue, historical fiction that uncovers forgotten stories, and political nonfiction or reality TV memoirs.
When I want comfort, you’ll usually find me with a cozy mystery.

Favorite authors: Margaret Atwood, John Scalzi, and Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Why I started this website

I wanted a place where book reviews could be more than a star rating and a few sentences. Beyond the Book Blurb is where I can slow down, explain why a book worked (or didn’t), and build the kinds of recommendation lists I always wished I could find.

Every week I share reviews, reading collections, and thoughts about the reading life, from unexpected favorites to reading slumps to bookstores worth wandering through.

You can also find me on Instagram and TikTok at @beyondthebookblurb, where I post shorter recommendations and bookish content throughout the week.
