Best Offer Wins: How Far Would You Go for Your Dream Home?

When Margo finds out that a home in her perfect neighborhood will be listed in the coming weeks she tries to set herself up to win the offer before it’s live. Go by the house and make sure it has what you want? And when you see that tire swing and the marble countertops you know it’s your dream home? Of course!!

Margo has goals and she won’t let anyone (even her husband Ian) stop her from getting them. She’s focused. She’s engaged. She will be buying this home.

The problem with being this focused? You miss things. Like whether your husband is actually invested in any of this. Or whether the people you’re ‘befriending’ can see right through you. And when her carefully laid plans fall apart, Margo’s next steps make stalking yoga classes look like the reasonable part of her strategy.

Kashino keeps us locked in on Margo’s perspective completely convinced she’s being strategic while ignoring reality. Instead of seeming crazy Margo makes you believe she’s just going the extra mile to get her home. You forget how unhinged Margo is and want to be her friend just to see what she’ll do next. It’s hard to believe Best Offer Wins is Marisa Kashino’s debut novel with such great pacing and surprising characters.
